The modest dream was to make the move from my flat albeit a very comfortable, attractive one to a house.  I never really adjusted to the London Victorian conversion. It felt like I was constantly surrounded by invisible flatmates – seldom seen but always heard.

With house prices being what they were the only way to make the leap from flat to house was to buy something that needed work – a lot of work.  I didn’t have friends in the trade or pots of money, in fact I’ve no experience at all in development but I just wanted to create a space for me to draw the curtains against the city sprawl.

And the blog well it just seemed a good way of off-loading the highs and lows of doing-it-yourself.
